could you write my opinion on her post. i agree with her….This upcoming graduating nursing class will have unfortunately been faced with unprecedented challenges. This is primarily due to the unforeseen global Covid-19 pandemic. As we enter the workforce we are ill prepared compared to previous nursing graduate classes, however we have persevered throughout and this pattern will continue after. Our entire education was done primarily via remote or hybrid. This style of teaching was new to both professors and students but we able to make the most of the situation and we learnt from each other. Also most importantly, the clinical aspects of our studies was limited, which left our graduating class with minimum hands on experiences which is valuable to our class starting of as new nurses strongly. This was not limited only to BMCC student but to all nursing students on a national space.

The one advantage that this upcoming nursing graduating class has due largely in part also to the pandemic is that there is a high demand for nurses in the job market. While this is advantageous, there are draw backs. Many nurses left the field due to burnout. This has caused a decreased in skilled senior nurses who would have been mentors etc. (Hofler, 2016).

Going forward as new nurses, we need to strongly rely on our future co-workers and team leaders. We need not be afraid to ask question and to state our uncertainties. According to Holfer, “Shared governance gives health care professionals a platform to discuss issues that impact their practice”. In order for new nurses to succeed , it requires a team effort from both the organizations willing to hire new graduates and the new graduates themselves.
