Frank Maresca says  – Everyone is desperately trying to put Outsider Art into a nice, neat little box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And it doesn\u2019t really fit in<\/p>\n\n\n\n

because it\u2019s something that happened independently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s something that owes nothing to art history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you owe nothing to art history, you really have a problem .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

he is now banned from showing at the Outsider Art Fair<\/p>\n\n\n\n

on account of being too successful. In fact, such is his popularity that, in a peculiar twist,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps it suggests we fetishize these artists we prefer them<\/p>\n\n\n\n

to be poor and struggling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
