Question:<\/strong> \u2018The basic issue with securitisation is the role of asymmetric information. In particular, banks rely on soft information to grant and manage loans. Since this information cannot be credibly transmitted to the market when loans are securitised, banks might lack incentives to screen borrowers at origination or to keep monitoring them once the lending has been securitised. [\u2026] Such perverse incentives would not operate if banks could find ways to overcome or at least mitigate the effects of asymmetric information at the moment of securitisation.\u2019
