Particularly, you are to observe closely on \u201chow\u201d today\u2019s news<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>accounts reportout on the news according to their individual station\u2019s\u201csubjective, or factual\u201d partisan views, or support of a certain candidates or<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>parties over the other one (<em>for example: the station mayadvocate more for the Democratic, OR Republican presidency, or policies, etc.<\/em>) This<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>assignment will help you to learn to observe andlisten to how the news is being reported out today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>INSTRUCTIONS:<\/strong>This is a required \u201c<em>TakeHome\u201dExam assignment for students enrolled inDr. Drew\u2019s Political Science 180classes<\/em><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This <em>is applied research project will require you to evaluate and <\/em>exercise both your \u201c<em>analytical<\/em>\u201d and \u201cpolitical\/<em>critical thinking skills<\/em>\u201d<em>t<\/em>o<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>watch, listen, review,and evaluate a variety of Television (TV) news casts, Radio, Newspapers, Internet broadcasts,Pod Casts,and other<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>news media sources you select. You are toobserve, evaluate and analyze each news outlet for anyof the following issues:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>Partisan, or \u201cpolitical\/partisanbiases\u201d that favor a certain party over the other one in the way the news in reported.<\/li><li>Any \u201cfake\u201d news that is being reported.<\/li><li>Any other \u201cpartisan, social, racial, or sexist biases (if any) reporting standards in the way the various stations report-out the news.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SELECTION OF NEWS STATIONS:<\/strong>You are required to review a <strong><em><u>minimum of 6 news stations\/or outlets<\/u><\/em><\/strong>to complete this required takehome assignment.Additionally, at a minimum at least two (2) of the selected news stations\/channels <em><u>must include at least two of the following three stations<\/u><\/em>: <strong>MSNBC<em><u>or<\/u><\/em>CNN<\/strong>, and<strong>Fox News<\/strong>(Plus four other news stations for channels).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>PUROPOSE OF ASSIGNMENT<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&amp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Student Response Sheet<\/u><\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Purpose:<\/strong>The purposeof this assignment is to introduce political science students to a variety of cable television (TV), Satellite, Radio, Internet, and other News reporting news outlets which invariably seek to shape and mold the public\u2019s views and perceptions pertaining to political or social issues and political candidates, etc. Additionally, for this assignment:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>Is designed as a <em><u>take home assignment<\/u><\/em>to assist students to develop a more in-depth view that may become more \u201cobjective, quantifiable, and realistic when listening to and evaluating the news (including the \u201cFake News\u201d):<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>You are required to review Chapter 10 (The Media), review Dr. Drew\u2019s pre-recorded video lectures and the Power Points which are posted in Module #10, for a better understanding of the news media\u2019 role.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>You will <em><u>develop a more informed \u201cpersonal analysis\u201d<\/u><\/em>of how the news today can sometimes be \u201cmanipulative\u201d,<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp; and\/or biased.
