Arts Theory to Practice: CHYS 3003
Arts Learning Resource (30%)
In this assignment you will design an original arts-based resource\/curriculum that can be used with
children and\/or youth. You may base your resource on any age group, environment, art form, and focus that is
of interest to you. Along with the resource, students must submit a written justification (6-7 pages) indicating
how the resource prompts creative learning and development in children or youth. Students will need to support
their justification by making reference to a minimum of four peer-reviewed sources that are relevant to their
selected topic\/art form.
Examples:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. A dramatic arts activity for 6\u20138-year old\u2019s that supports socio-emotional development in a hospital setting.<\/li>
  2. A visual arts activity for 14\u201318-year old\u2019s to explore activism in a classroom setting.
    Arts Resource Component: You will create an original arts-based resource\/curriculum that can be used with
    children and\/or youth. You may choose any age group, environment, art form, and focus that is of interest to
    you. Your resource may be written in point form but must contain enough information to be understood and
    replicated by a reader. An example is below. Your resource\/curriculum must include the following:

    The format of this essay should be as follows (Items 3-8 do not have to be in the following order but must all be
    included). Your paper should be 6-7 pages in length.<\/li>

  4. Introduction: Introduce your concept in a clear and engaging way.
    Assessment of Art and Development<\/li>
  5. Why is art important for your chosen age group?<\/li>
  6. How does your chosen artform contribute to development?<\/li>
  7. Why is art important in your chosen setting?
    Assessment of Resource<\/li>
  8. Overview\/explanation of your resource.<\/li>
  9. The purpose\/reasoning behind your resource.<\/li>
  10. Address potential issues with your resource and how you would address them.<\/li>
  11. Conclusion: Summarize the main points of your paper.<\/li>
  12. Reference Page
    For this assignment you are required to have a minimum of four outside academic sources. Although there is
    no minimum, it is expected that you reference course material where necessary. Sources must be integrated
    through the paper and proper APA referencing is required.
    Please upload your assignment to Blackboard no later than April 4th by 11:59pm. Late assignments will
    receive a deduction of 10% per day (including weekends).
