Strategic Training of Healthcare Workforce on Policies, Procedures, and Regulation
You are a healthcare executive of a large hospital, serving as director of health information. You have beenadvised that there are serious concerns regarding the competence of the facility\u2019s billing and coding staff. Toaddress these concerns, you will develop an action plan. The plan will contribute to the examination ofinformation in part or aggregate to identify motives and causes behind the fraud or incompetence found andprovide a system solution to the problem.
Rubric:1. Billing and Codinga. Analyze three types of abuse or fraud that may occur during the course of medical coding and billingactivities.b. Determine four organizational policies and procedures that monitor such activities and critique theeffectiveness of each policy\/procedure.
2. Orientation and Training Programa. Examine the collaboration and facilitation of the creation of both a new employee orientation programand an ongoing training program for medical billing and coding employees.b. Indicate two leadership approach in the implementation of the programs.
3. Evaluationa. Develop a plan to evaluate the training programs at \u201ctime of launch\u201d and again at periodic times over thenext two years.b. Propose three methods used to evaluate the effectiveness and create performance benchmarks foreach training program.
4. Enterprise-wide Information Assetsa. List the benefits of an enterprise data warehouse to a health care organization and provide a strategicobjective that could be facilitated through use of a data warehouse.b. Select three information assets that a data warehouse could be used to accomplish the identifiedstrategic objective.
