  1. Pick a service organization you are familiar with and will be able to complete at least 5 hours of community service with.
    1. Reach out to the organization and setup time to complete 5 hours of community service. <\/li><\/ol><\/li>
    2.  Go to the organization’s website and research the organizational mission, structure, culture.
      1. Put together a presentation (can use PowerPoint) presenting this information about the organization<\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
        1. Identify and contact an individual who works in a leadership position within that organization (can be the same person you worked with when completing service hours).
          1. Develop interview questions to learn more about the individual\u2019s and the organization\u2019s theory\/philosophy on leadership
            1. Utilize your Northouse book when developing interview questions thinking about the definition of leadership and various theories.<\/li>
            2. Ask about organizational culture<\/li>
            3. Ask what factor diversity plays in the day-to-day operation of the organization<\/li>
            4. Must ask at least 10 questions.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
              1. Ask to meet in person or via phone to discuss the organization
                1. Let the individual know that you can keep their name\/identity confidential and out of your presentation if they desire<\/li>
                2. The interview should be able to be conducted utilizing only half an hour of the individuals time- unless they would like to talk longer.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                  1. The approximate minimum length of the reflection presentation should be 10 minutes (no longer than 15 minutes).
                    1. The presentation should provide information on the organizations:
                      1. History and Development<\/li>
                      2. Organizational Structure<\/li>
                      3. Philosophy on Leadership\/Management<\/li>
                      4. Leadership Communication Styles<\/li>
                      5. Culture<\/li>
                      6. Commitment to Diversity<\/li>
                      7. Summary of individuals answers to interview questions<\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                        I did my service hours with Habitat for Humanity. I worked with Lori, and “asked” her questions. 1.    What steps do you take to make sure that projects are completed on time, on budget, and to the proper standard?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                        2.    How would you describe your leadership style? How would your colleagues describe it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                        3.    Can you tell me about a time where you faced a leadership challenge? What did you do to overcome it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                        4.    If a team member is under performing, what steps do you take to improve their performance?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                        5.    How do you monitor a team\u2019s performance?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                        6.    If a team is struggling to stay motivated, what steps would you take to boost engagement?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                        7.    When a member of your team presents you with an idea, how do you respond?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                        8.    When starting with a new team, how do you evaluate the current state of their capabilities?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
