For the second major writing assignment, you will compose a persuasive essay about education. The prompt for this essay is as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Is a university education important? Why or why not?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How to Proceed<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First, complete the&nbsp;freewrite assignment due Feb 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second, write out your stance and make a list of reasons why you think that. Include as much &#8220;evidence&#8221; as you think you need to be persuasive.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The third step is to choose an audience for your essay. Who do you want to persuade? Which person or group of people?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Begin drafting. You will write the essay with a strong viewpoint (which side of the debate is right) and plenty of support and evidence (why that side of the debate is right).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, revise according to feedback from your peers and writing tutor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tips for Success<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Make sure to complete your other assignments during this unit. Many of them are designed to help you write a great essay.<\/li><li>Have a clear stance\/thesis statement and write it out in 1-2 sentences somewhere on the first page of your essay.<\/li><li>Pay attention to&nbsp;basic essay structureActions&nbsp;and&nbsp;organization&nbsp;Actions(and a&nbsp;sample organization schemaActions)Actions<\/li><li>Have strong topic sentences<\/li><li>Have clear organization<\/li><li>Create an interesting title<\/li><li>Start with something to engage your audience&#8217;s attention<\/li><li>Conclude with a strong summary of your argument as well as a few comments, questions, or ideas that take your topic and broaden it to a wider audience<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Requirements<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The essay must<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>have MLA formatting (Times New Roman, 12 pt font, double spaced)<\/li><li>be 500-600 words long<\/li><li>be turned in to Canvas<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Evaluation<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The revised draft of this assignment will be graded according to the rubric below.
