Please provide a systematic description of your selected policy using the Gilbert and Terrell framework<\/strong> (reference the past few weeks\u2019 Powerpoints for an overview of the framework).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Overview of selected social problem and policy<\/li>
  2. WHAT \u2013 what does the policy provide? What are the benefits and\/or drawbacks to providing it this way?<\/li>
  3. WHO \u2013 to whom is it provided? Eligibility criteria? What are the benefits and\/or drawbacks to this eligibility?<\/li>
  4. HOW \u2013 How do individuals actually receive the benefit\/service\/protected status etc.? What are the benefits or drawbacks to providing it this way?<\/li>
  5. $$$ — How is the policy\/program\/benefit funded? Does the federal government pay? Is it grant funded? What are the benefits or drawbacks to this funding source?<\/li>
  6. What VALUES are baked into the policy? (For example: social justice? Belief that poor should be \u201cdeserving\u201d? Personal choice? Etc.)<\/li>
  7. From a social justice lens: how does this policy do? Is it aligned with SW values? If so, how? If not, why not?<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    To remember: cite, cite, cite! Look for think tank reports, reputable news articles, and government reports on your policy. No blogs or Wikipedia, pls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The purpose of this paper is to provide a systematic description of the current policy using the Gilbert and Terrell framework.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This paper should be 3-5 pages in length.  The paper should have a title page and references, neither of which are included in the final page length, and must include the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. The policy choices reflected in the law for each of the four dimensions of the Gilbert and Terrell framework.  Your paper should identify the choice (i.e., selective and means-tested basis for allocation of the benefits) and describe the details in the policy or program related to that choice (i.e., only children below a certain income quality for the program and they must prove their income in annual forms submitted to the program).<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
      1. The values and assumptions behind the policy choices for each of the four dimensions.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
        1. The expected or actual benefits and drawback to the policy choice for each dimension, including whether it promotes or inhibits social justice. <\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
