{"id":2330,"date":"2022-04-12T09:36:57","date_gmt":"2022-04-12T09:36:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/highclasswriters.com\/blog\/?p=2330"},"modified":"2022-04-12T09:36:59","modified_gmt":"2022-04-12T09:36:59","slug":"healthy-aging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/highclasswriters.com\/blog\/healthy-aging\/","title":{"rendered":"Healthy aging"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li><strong>Assess<\/strong>&nbsp;the living environment as it relates to functional, physical, cognitive, psychological, and social needs of older adults.<\/li><li><strong>Identify<\/strong>&nbsp;actual or potential mistreatment (physical, mental or financial, or self-neglect) in older adults and refer appropriately.<\/li><li><strong>Recognize<\/strong>&nbsp;ethical, non-coercive decision making by older adults and\/or families\/caregivers for maintaining everyday living, receiving treatment, initiating advance directives, and implementing end-of-life care.<\/li><li><strong>Compare<\/strong>&nbsp;models of care that promote safe, quality physical and mental health care for older adults.<\/li><li><strong>Identify<\/strong>&nbsp;diverse health\/illness beliefs, values, attitudes and practices of individuals, families, groups, communities and populations that affect the care of older adults<\/li><li><strong>Identify<\/strong>&nbsp;safe and effective transitions across levels of care and the increased use of healthcare resources including acute, community-based and long-term care (e.g. home, family home, assisted living, hospice, nursing homes, palliative care) by older adult.<\/li><li><strong>Utilize<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>critical thinking skills<\/strong>&nbsp;to promote healthy aging through safe and effective decision-making.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Directions for Healthy Aging Analysis &#8211; Group Video Presentation:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Each group will have 15 to 30 minutes video and\/or narrated ppt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Be Creative!!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Follow the Rubric provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Students will present as a group in a video and\/or narrated ppt to be posted in Brightspace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Students are to expand on the questions for each individual assignment to populate their poster slides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6. Student groups will be assigned by faculty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Each Group of Students will visit (in person or virtually) all of the following settings as designated by faculty:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li><strong>Active Aging Setting &#8211;&nbsp;<\/strong>a community facility, organization, etc., where older adults regularly congregate. \u2026such as a senior center or senior nutrition site<\/li><li><strong>Spiritual Worship Setting \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong>a House of Worship of your partner.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Residential Living Setting &#8211;&nbsp;<\/strong>the home of an older adult who is a family member or friend of your partner.<\/li><li><strong>Senior Home Living Setting &#8211;&nbsp;<\/strong>a residential living facility.&nbsp; This can be a senior living community, assisted living facility (NOT Nursing Home).<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Each student must visit (in person or virtually) at least TWO of the settings.&nbsp; In addition, students will compare and contrast the similarities and differences of each area visited and will use the following individual assignment questions as a guide for collecting the information you will need for your oral presentation! The following are some directions for each individual assignment:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>ACTIVE AGING OBSERVATION ASSIGNMENT&nbsp;<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Locate a community facility, organization, etc., where older adults regularly congregate.&nbsp; Utilize the Active Aging Assessment that we will do in class to inform your answers to the following questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Describe the setting- where is it located, what is the community like, what is the physical environment?&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Who are the facilitators?&nbsp;&nbsp; What is there background to have this position?&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.
