Reflecting on the 2002 movie, The Count of Monte Cristo, write an Extended Definition
on one of the following words or another you choose to tie to the movie. Some
possibilities include the following: Revenge, Betrayal, Love, Friendship, Enemy,
Innocence, Fencing, Dueling, Education, Ignorance, Corruption. Your thesis might be a
statement about what message the movie gives about one of these words and how the
word is reflected in the movie or how the word affects a character or characters in the
movie. Because this is an extended definition you must define your word in your paper.
Please identify and give credit to your sources whether it\u2019s a definition that you copy
from a dictionary or a quote you use from the movie.

Quoting Dialogue from the movie:
It\u2019s kind of hard to write down quotes of dialogue when you\u2019re watching a movie, so to look
up dialogue that you can quote in your paper go to the IMBd Official movie site online.
Search for The Count of Monte Cristo 2002. On the movie\u2019s home page click on All Topics,
then go into the Did You Know section and from there click into Quotes. In your paper you
should attribute the quote to the character name, not the actor. If you\u2019re using the IMBD site for
your quotes, your quote might look like this with the in-text. Mercedes says, \u201c\u2026\u2026..\u201d (qtd. in
Count of Monte Cristo 2002 Quotes\u201d).
Tip for the Introduction paragraph. You should refer to the movie with some identifier (year it
came out or director\u2019s name \u2013 see below) within your introduction. If you get stuck with how to
start the paper, here\u2019s a suggestion. Your introduction can be a combination of general
information about the movie and\/or the word itself. Some people define their word in the intro
and show how its tied to the movie. For example, Betrayal is shown to be a force for personal
change in the 2002 The Count of Monte Cristo.
Tip for the Body Paragraphs. This paper should not be a movie summary. Instead focus on
scenes and quotes that deal with the word you\u2019ve chosen and analyze what you think the movie is
saying about that topic. Stay away from the first person, like, \u201cI think this scene shows how\u2026\u201d
