Requirements for the Memo Format. Most documents have three parts, no matter their length: an introduction, a body, and a conclusion. The essence of these three parts is \u201chere is the information you need before I tell you what I am writing to you about,\u201d \u201chere is what I wanted to tell you,\u201d and \u201chere is what I want you to remember or do with what I told you.\u201d I should see a clear introduction, body, and conclusion for all your documents in this course. Therefore, you should have these three parts in your Myers-Briggs Introduction Memo. Successful Document Hints & Requirements \u2022 I have a few requirements for your document format. All your documents in our course should use Arial or Calibri for your font in 11-point. Your documents should be single-spaced, and your margins should be 1-inch. Document design is important, and it is something I will focus on in my grading throughout the semester. \u2022 Bite-sized chunks of information are more manageable for today\u2019s readers. We are used to reading information online, which is how most content is formatted there. Therefore, short and concise paragraphs are more effective than longer ones. Paragraph breaks also indicate to your reader that you are about to shift your topic. These visual breaks help keep your intended audience with you throughout your document. \u2022 Any memo document over a page long typically uses headers to organize information. This should be true of your memos as well. Subject headings help your reader anticipate when your subject shifts throughout your document. Please note that the introduction paragraph to your paper does not need a header, but the conclusion does. \u2022 Business correspondence typically uses a block format for the text. This means that you shouldn\u2019t indent your paragraphs. Instead, use a one-line space between them to indicate a paragraph break with all the text left justified. \u2022 Whitespace, or the space surrounding text, is also important to your documents. This ensures that your reader is not overwhelmed by the information you present.
