Autonomy is an individual\u2019s right of self-determination and freedom of decision making. To enable patient empowerment, nurses need to recognize that patients are responsible for their own health. Nurses can shape their attitude in a way that include directing patients to decisions that support good health outcomes. Nurses must use ethical principles and decision-making process to enable empowerment, and they must value development. The empowerment model of care is patient centered, information giving, negotiate behavior, adherence, servant, understanding and acceptance, and that patients must save themselves. The basis of this is the assumption that to be health, people must be able to bring about changes not only in their personal behavior, but also in their social situations and the institutions that influence their lives. Empowerment is often defined as an increased control over the care process in the treatment definition process (Bailo, 2019).
