Discussion Board Question:<\/strong> The formation of the caste system certainly has had a dramatic effect on India. Hinduisms ancient texts refer to caste and how it was formed from the body of Parusha. Some researchers have used genetic studies to further understand caste, and believe that it was a way to halt Indo-European mingling with other groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Discuss the nature of caste and how Hinduism and caste worked together. What teachings in Hinduism reinforce caste? Why was it so hierarchical (or, dependent on a top\/down ranking from elites to outcastes)? Please use specific examples. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The caste system is based on heredity. The caste system was advantageous in different ways ;it led to proper division of labor, preservation of culture and it was also used as an instrument of order. Karma brings the Dharma which was a way of living with respect and duty. The caste system brought low self esteem between the high castes and the low castes in the society, men were viewed to be of high status than women. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Second:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
The caste system was and has been used for many years. It is a great importance. It forms as a means of dividing the people into groups. It was a way of controlling the social status of the people. It was very important when it came to marrying. It has never been known for someone to marry outside of their social status. Well only 11% married out of their caste. The caste system goes back even further than Hinduism, it was started with the Varnas. Men were viewed higher status in regard to women. Women were considered unclean and deceptive. Thats why they would always have to be watched. Order is very important. Once you recognize and know your place, it’s best to play your role. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
