  1. Mission Statement<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Obtain a copy of the mission statement of the company you\u2019re working for this summer. Compare the company\u2019s mission statement with each of the 13 qualities listed in the module reading on the Moodle site. Write a half-page report on your comparisons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    If the company that you\u2019re working for does not have a mission statement, talk with the owner or manager, and then construct a draft mission statement. (You don\u2019t need to go through the whole process of talking with stakeholders.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    If you aren\u2019t currently working, choose a company that you\u2019ve worked for in the past or a local company with a customer service focus. Preferably the company should be in the tourism, hospitality, or recreation industries \u2013 but any service-oriented company is acceptable. Make sure that it has a published mission statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Vision Statement  <\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Talk with your general manager or owner of your company and ask the following questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • What is your vision of the service delivery system in this organization?<\/li>
      • Has it changed since you started here (or started the company)?<\/li>
      • What specific actions have you taken to inspire the staff in your vision?<\/li>
      • Does every member of your staff have the same passion for the vision as you, or if not, how does it vary. Justify this with examples<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Write the responses to these questions, together with any recommendations you have for instilling the vision in the hearts and minds of the employees. Aim for approximately 1-2 pages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        If you are not currently working,choose a company that you\u2019ve worked for in the past or a small, local company with a customer service focus and complete the work as above. Preferably the company should be in the tourism, hospitality, or recreation industries \u2013 but any service-oriented company is acceptable (e.g. a small restaurant, coffee shop, or retail outlet). This company does not need to be the same one as in question 1, although you can certainly do that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Start this assignment early as you need to conduct a brief interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
