    Lorenzo de Mesilla<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This story takes place<\/p>\n\n\n\n

     in the small village of Mesilla, Nuveo Mexico<\/em>, in 1942<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Lorenzo Guzman Acosta was born at home in Four Points, the eighth of 10 children<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    He is a hero among heroes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    For his legacy of kindness<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    He so loved the sandy desert<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    taking shelter under the fiery red blanket that covered the Organ Mountains<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    School was for those who looked like they spoke English well <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    He quickly grew out of the back classroom desk <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    It was his adobe colored skin that left him to make his own path<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Marines would soon come calling<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    With promises of adventure and glory<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Leaving Mesilla for training in the big city<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    To the desert of Twentynine Palms, cruising the streets of San Bernardino, and <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Over the ocean to Okinawa<\/p>\n\n\n\n

     But the small town of Colton is where he would stay<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Hard work was his religion<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    calloused hands was his trophy<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    dark brown eyes quiet but wise<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    dark brown skin, sun kissed leather<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    a testament to his life’s journey <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    a gentle heart of gold<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    he gave and gave to help his gente<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    known by few<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    and in the end honored by many<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A life well lived<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Surrounded by family and friends<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A legacy of kindness <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The small town of Colton is where he would lay<\/p>\n\n\n\n
