    Pseudomonas putida <\/em>is a bacterium that typically survives in water and soil. It is a Gram-Negative, non- fermenting bacterium, rod shaped, saprotrophic soil bacterium and is commonly used in environmental studies because it can degrade many aliphatic and aromatic positive hydrocarbons. P. putida <\/em>bacteria was first discovered in the mid 1900\u2019s and is one of the most studied species of bacteria. P. putida <\/em>is a commonbacterium that lives in fresh water and soil around the world with a small tail like structure called a flagellate to move around. Pseudomonas putida<\/em>, which is considered a metabolically versatile rhizobacterium ideal for agriculture applications. P. putida<\/em> is known to quickly colonize the rhizosphere of plants thus outcompeting plant pathogens (Zulueta-Rodriguez, et al, 2014). P. putida<\/em> is widely used in agriculture to help break down or get rid of the harmful industrial made fertilizers and pesticides, that are unnatural and harmful to our environment. P. putida<\/em> has been labeled a super bug that could break down almost any type of organisms except Teflon, Styrofoam, and organic products containing a single hydrogen molecule. Studies have shown, P. putida<\/em> in root systems of plants can help can increase the overall health of a plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Not only is P. putida <\/em>important in the aquacultural and environmental cleanup process, but it is also used in biotechnology and pharmacology. One possible finding for P. putida <\/em>within the pharmacology is developing alternative therapies to treat infections caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria. This would be huge for the medical community as we do over treat people with antibiotics for most things that would normally subside over a few days to a week. Making humans more susceptible to diseases or infections.  I believe that if P. putida <\/em>is used correctly and under controlled uses it could be the world\u2019s cleaner for humans\u2019 mistakes and our constant use of harmful pollutants or accidents i.e., oil spills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
