For this assignment, please create a list of 10 research references which are directly related to your chosen topic. You must also provide an introduction (brief statement about the topic) and a conclusion (review of useful information discovered through annotations). For this assignment, you may copy the abstracts: you want to find the titles and then copy or paraphrase the abstracts – the goal here is to construct a useful working bibliography as efficiently as possible. Please be sure to also include the background of the author, an evaluation, and the work’s relevance to your topic. This information must be written by you. These important details are specific to your work.

Your report should include the following: 1. A brief statement about the topic you have chosen (Be sure to define all terms according to the literature.). What is it that needs to be researched? Why is it interesting to you? This can be as short as a couple of paragraphs, or a bit more if necessary. Try to write this description of your research topic as clearly and effectively as possible – it will let the reader know what you are researching, and will help remind you of your research focus as you collect the 10 references. 

 2. After you describe your problem, you should list the 10 references, one after the other. Please use APA citation style. The format should be citation, background of author (You may need to google this), abstract, evaluation, and relevance. All references must have these four elements. Be careful to keep your list focused on topics which are clearly and directly relevant to your topic (no padding!). Where to get the annotations? The best way, the most efficient way, is to copy them from the internet and paste them into your report. If you find a reference that doesn’t have an abstract, glance at it or skim it briefly to get a sense of its content and create the annotation yourself. 

 3. Since an important part of this exercise is to give you a hands-on introduction to the reference tools available for the social sciences, you should indicate where you found each reference. If you found it in Soc Abstracts, put that down. Hopefully, you will indicate that you have consulted several reference sources. Put where you found it at the end of the listing for each reference.

 4. Please use the APA citation guidelines.

 5. Finally, reread the references and annotations you have included. What themes relevant to your research question are appearing in your bibliography? Write a brief summary of the main research findings that you have found in the references which will help you answer or focus your research question. This brief summary should be about a page long, enough to let you really conceptualize some of the main issues related to your research topic. Writing this summary should make you think about the usefulness of the references you have found – if you’re having a hard time summarizing the findings in your references that will help you answer your research question, maybe your references aren’t going to be very helpful to your research
