What are the environmental benefits of a plant-based deit?

Did you Know that Humans don’t produce Most of earth’s greenhouse gasses in fact Factory farming accounts for 37% of methane (CH4) emissions, which has more than 20 times the global warming potential of CO2.In the USA Factory farming of cattle is a major contributor to climate change.Climate Change is a on going problem on earth with brings  More frequent and intense drought, storms, heat waves, rising sea levels, melting glaciers and warming oceans can directly harm animals, destroy the places they live, and wreak havoc on people’s livelihoods and communities and specific people of color. The benefits of a plant based diet the environment because factory farms creating greenhouse gasses deforestation, and water usage, pollution.   (https://www.nationalgeographic.com/) (www.dosomething.org)

The Most Significant Issue about Factory Farms is Cows Eructation [When cows eat grass the microbes in the rumen break down and ferment it making methane gas.] “This incessant belching expels an impressive volume of greenhouse gasses mostly methane and carbon dioxide. Added up, burps from cows account for 26% of the United States’ total methane emissions.” (wwf.panda.org) Which means that cows produce a whole 26% of Greenhouse gas emissions When that is more than  the United States produces and they produce 15%. Methane has 25 times more impact on climate than carbon dioxide over 100 years, As the years on Cow Eructation will become a more worst problem.

In Addition  Factory farming contributes to deforestation as land is cleared for grazing cattle. Grazing Cattle means that the farmers have to cut down forests to make space for the cows. “Extensive cattle ranching is the number one culprit of deforestation in virtually every Amazon country, and it accounts for 80% of current deforestation (Nepstad et al. 2008). Alone, the deforestation caused by cattle ranching is responsible for the release of 340 million tons of carbon to the atmosphere every year, equivalent to 3.4% of current global emissions.”  As previously mentioned that cow are the reason that 340 million tons of carbon dioxide is going to the atmosphere and this is because farmers are need more space for the cows that they are keeping so they are making space by clearing the forests. As a Result Of the deforestation  conversion, cattle pastures increase the risk of fire.

The way we humans eat is becoming worse because now it is affecting climate change and that’s  becoming a big problem in the world .Considering that we humans stop to eat meat it would help climate change a lot by bringing down the greenhouse emissions by also most 50%.However that will likely never happened if were to happen it would be like 50 years from now . Most foods’ carbon footprint varies from food to food ,season to season and how it’s produced. How we are producing food affects the world’s global emissions because the more we  desire for Red meat or meat in general causes countries to make more factory farms which means cutting down trees in rainforest which makes us lose out on the environment benefits like medicine etc…

Scientists say that by 2050 there will not be  enough water to produce food for the 9 billion people on earth.Seeing How we are moving now with  climate change already getting to the tipping point of drought,Sea level rising Etc…Their will not be enough water because Cattle needs 1 gallon of water per 100 pounds of body weight and keep in mind the average cow weighs about 1,600-2,400 so that about 16 gallons per cow in Day not counting weeks or even on a hot day .Don’t forget that we have a growing population and we still haven’t water the crops yet.The United States alone is eating around 800 kilograms a year at that rate alone we would no be able have enough water for the new growing population.

A distinct reason why Greenhouse gasses are rising is because of cafo(Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations) there are rising because they are bring up the greenhouse gasses by 7% on top of the percent that factory farms are producing. These cafo are not good for the environment because they produce a overwhelming amount of feces and pee.A small Cafo of about 100-500 cows can produce enough feces equal to 16,000 humans in a week. Also Cafo can range from 100- to millions amount of cattle there at one time.In that matter Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations are producing 168 harmful gasses like ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, and methane and etc..These Cafo carry many bacteria  diseases like fungus and etc…

Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations have been polluting the water by their feces overflowing into stormwater and Field Tiles.Cafo are very bad for the environment because Humans and the earth do a lot of harm,Also it’s degrading air water etc.. quatly.
