Your Final Paper: Minimum length of 8 -10 double-spaced pages. It may be longer. You do not need to use a cover page, but please be certain you use APA 6th / 7th formatting for your references, in text and at the end.

You have 3 options for your paper. 
(1) Your paper can focus on a sociological question – involving health or health behavior that is related to the course. An example would be, “Looking at maternal health, what are the risks and risk reduction strategies in place and designed to improve outcomes for groups at highest risk?”
(2) Your paper can focus on a major or important topic/health issue in society. For example, how does the dominant US culture promote obesity and sedentary lifestyles for children and young people?
(3) Your paper can focus on an application of some aspect of this course to the discipline in which you plan to be working. If you are majoring in psychology and planning – after your graduate degree – to become a clinical psychologist – you might look at the importance of cultural competence in building rapport with your clients.
In the case of any of the 3 options, the paper must state a central research question (or set of questions) that will serve to shape and focus the paper, as opposed to simply doing a wide-ranging literature review on a health topic or theoretical discussion of a general theme. Because your policy brief looked at Universal Health Care, this is not an acceptable topic for your final paper.
The paper should include: (a) an introduction that frames, describes, and supports the central research question(s) for the paper and why the question is or questions are significant and important; (b) a section in which the question(s) is/are addressed theoretically or conceptually; and (c) literature from class readings and additional relevant sociological or social scientific material which you have found. Please be certain that all of the reference material you use is cited in-text and fully referenced at the end. Use only academic and or peer reviewed data sources.
Your assignment due this week and to be uploaded to the drop box is your choice for the final paper of this course. You will need to upload your topic (working title) and your preliminary research questions. For example, if you are writing a paper using option 3, and you are plan a career in public health, you might decide to write a paper that enables you to learn more about contact tracing. Your research question could be – “Did contact tracing of individuals who test positive for Covid 19 work effectively with college students and on a college campus?”
