Directions: It’s 1945 and World War II has just ended. You are working for the Works Progress Administration (WPA) and have been tasked with interviewing veterans of the war about their experiences. Your goal is to investigate the way gender and race impacted the experiences of those who served. Utilizing Chapter 24, compose in no less than 250 words descriptions of the wartime experiences of (2) veterans based upon your “interviews” with… • A Black American man who fought in the Battle of Normandy (250 words) • A White American woman who served in a non-combat role (250 words) Your submissions should be written based upon your summary/notes of your two interviews – or – you may write your interviews in word-for-word format as if you have transcribed the interview. You may be as creative as you wish in further developing the details about each of these veterans (where they are from, personality, names, age, what specifically they did in their roles, where they were stationed in the war, etc.) but be sure to include factual details about your interviewees experiences based upon information provided in Chapter 24.
