- Here is an assignment that is more light-hearted. If you have never had a pet, think of a friend’s pet, or a family member’s pet, OR consider animated animals like Garfield the Cat or Mickey Mouse.
- This speech is for entertainment. You can choose a pet who has passed away, but I don’t want to make this assignment full of sad obituaries. I do not want you to think of the tribute as needing to honor a former pet–but it may be the case!
- In your speech, tug at our heart strings. Use plenty of vivid language to describe your pet.
- I am giving you plenty of time to write this. If it were to be spoken, the speech would be about 4-5 minutes. So you need to include as much as you want inside the outline.
- As I explained earlier in the lesson, please have fun with this assignment.
- You have permission to add more characteristics and reasons as you wish. The bare-boned outline that I attached is your guide and can be expanded–but keep to the flow.
- I am looking for good description and stories that are full of pathos.
- I am giving you time (more days than usual) to analyze why you love that pet, and to put it into words with examples and stories. Remember using similes and metaphors as description?
- You do not have to keep it in outline format showing letters and numbers. You can write it as an essay– keeping to the outline format
