The assignment as explained by the instructor: You are to write an 8-10 page research paper on a topic of your choice (pending approval by me) that directly relates to the course. Easy ways of coming up with a topic are to develop one of the units or sub-units into a paper (e.g., the theology of Ugarit, Plato, Maimonides, Aquinas, etc.) or to develop a sub-theme across units (e.g., the development of the concept of the logos from Parmenides through Plotinus, Targum, and the Gospel of John).
Below is a link to the material studied throughout the semester: https://libguides.brooklyn.cuny.edu/just3022/wk6?fbclid=IwAR0ogtcm4M9FATBSu2y0iPJ22hssyncp5YZzVLNGN5ent99fJTq8cZck588
Getting this term paper done requires some basic knowledge of the theology of the ancientGreeks, with a focus on Parmenides, Heraclitus, Plato and Aristotle’s versions of ‘God’. As stated in the explanation above, it is accepted to try and make a connection between all of these philosphers, and I would like to even encourage that, although it is not necessary if you feel comfortable and have enough material to focus on only one of them while still satisfying the required number of pages. Prior to writing the body, I would like to receive a topic and a bibliography of the sources you will be using. Following that, I am also required to turn in an outline prior to the completion of the work, both as soon as possible.
It is not required to use the material from the link above, but if for whatever reason the link doesn’t work and you need to see exactly the concepts we have gone over during the semester, please let me know and I can try to figure out something else. The paper MUST revolve around the course material (Parm, Herc, Plt, Aristtl’s conceptions of a god), although if you already are confident with your understanding of this material, you should be just fine using whatever sources you see fit.
