Extended Definition Essay
Your introduction should be creative, descriptive and engaging. Consider opening with an anecdote, an illustration or your netting. Resist the urge to start in a really broad or generic way.
In addition to your introduction, include 1-2 body paragraphs that help further define your term and prove your thesis.
Write an essay that defines a term, phrase, concept or identity you find relevant to your life in 2022. This is not an essay about the dictionary definition; in fact, unless you plan to directly reject the common definition, I would not recommend putting the dictionary definition in your essay. Instead, you want to use personal experience and perhaps a little research to develop an argument that explores your concept.
You are also free to create a new term or expression to describe something you see around you.
Please use the examples of extended definition essays we’ve read and discussed in class as models for your own essay.

Be clear and concise. Keep it pretty simple. Aim for a medium length sentence.
Reflect your position or point of view on the term.
Set up, but don’t give away, the ideas you will explore in your essay.
