You are not proving the theory is true, you are using science and other evidence to show that the theory is NOT TRUE.

This part of the paper involves scholarly or good popular sources that explain people’s attraction to the theory. You must explain why people believe in conspiracy theories.

You need to include social science, biological or physical science to debunk the conspiracy theory. For instance, with the moon landing, you need to investigate the facts of the moon landing. How do we know that astronauts really went to the moon? What is the evidence?

Therefore, your paper will include two types of sources: 1. the conspiracy theory of sources: 2. the scientific or social scientific sources, that debunk it

Here are some reasons people believe in conspiracy theories:

– Mistrust of government. We do not know what the government knows.

– Social influences. People know someone whose child is autistic after getting vaccinated

– Social media groups that believe in conspiracies.

– Easy answers to complex problems- monological thinking. The moon landing looks like Nevada.

– Anxiety that the world is out of control. What’s to become of us.

SCHOLARLY OR GOOD POPULAR SOURCES:

– Psychology explains why some people believe in impossible-magical thinking.

– Social psychology explains how people are influenced by each other.

– History explains the origins of the theory such as the Illuminati, which dates back to medieval Europe.

– Sociology and anthropology explain groups of people who follow conspiracy leaders-Jonestown

– Biological and physical sciences explain why a conspiracy theory is not possible.

– Communication explains how theories travel and are exchanged.
