Anth 103 Essay Topics and Guidelines.

The purpose of this paper is to present a survey of an area of study within a specific culture, or to compare a cultural trait between two cultures. Your primary source of information should be peer reviewed journal articles. You may use supplemental sources for further information about the people and region of your topic. 

Below are sample topics. Pick one, or propose your own, and conduct bibliographic research to find two journal articles that approach the topic. 

You will write a 3-5-page critical survey essay based on the work you find. 

Please use APA style for your citations and bibliography page.

Guidelines

Introduction: Describe the topic. The Significance of the topic. If and why it is controversial. Introduce the purpose of your paper. Provide some background information about the region/cultures under study.

Methodology: Describe how your sources went about their studies. Compare them. 

Results/findings: Describe their findings.

Discussion: Describe their conclusions. Compare them. Input your own analysis. Is there a weakness? Does one seem more correct and stronger than another? Explain your reasoning. Do you have a proposition for how to proceed with this line of research?

Bibliography: List your cited references.
