The Writing Assignment will consist of a maximum of 1-2 page summary of a case law/case study from your textbook, or one you are familiar with. This is an opportunity to dive into an area of your interest and expand your understanding of the law and how it can be applied. This was always a favorite part for me when I conducted investigations and relied not only on the penal code definition, but how case law (or precedent) applied for a successful prosecution.You will write about a Case law related to any crime. For example, homicides (CPC 187) rely heavily on DNA or eye witnesses. Research that topic, review the material, and report back your findings including case law, also known as precedents.​Precedents: a pervious case or legal decision that may be or must be followed in similar circumstances.   MLA format preferred.
