Response to a discussion board

Topic of Interest

Hi , your discussion post was very informative. However, I would have liked to hear your thoughts more on the article you chose. I would have liked to hear why you chose that article and how it related to the field of nursing you are choosing. I was curious about your article so I took the time to read it for myself. Something I found interesting about the article is that it reports that males were four times more likely than females to be identified with autism spectrum disorder (Deborah, 2018). I wonder why males are diagnosed four times more then females? I am going to use other databases to see if I can find articles more on the diagnose part of the process.

PubMed Database

Your review of the database CINAHL was very helpful. I have never used CINAHL for research before. I will agree it is harder to use then some of the other databases but it does count great information. If someone doesn’t need a specific book or article then this is a great database. ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Database might be a good database for you to check out for future research. It allows you to filter for scholarly articles as well as peer reviewed articles. This can help to make sure you are getting what you need like an article or book resource. It’s also easy to use and can find articles on topics with vague wording to prompt it. I was able to find another article on ProQuest related to yours that you may want to check out. I was able to find this article with just typing in autism and children. This article discusses the prevalence of children with autism and how providers can be better prepared to care for these children. This is helpful for both of our fields. There are no references between pediatricians and mental health services (Ustinova, 2021). This part of the article stuck out to me because the lack of care is due to pediatricians not having a networking system with mental health services and this is something that needs to be changed.
