RESEARCH PAPER: THIRD WAVE OF FEMINISM

By the 1990s, women were enjoying the benefits of higher education and entrance into the corporate world, working as doctors, lawyers, professors and politicians, as well as competing in most major sports.  However, for the majority of working women in the United States, their pay scale for the same work done by a male was significantly lower than their male counterparts.  Furthermore, the feminist movement had been thwarted, criticized and held back enough that females had to endure sexual harassment, physical and mental abuse, and received less credit and fame as male actors and athletes.  Use the contents of this course as a guide:  the documents in the course and textbook, Power Points, and especially my Power Point later in the semester, plus the work of leading journalists, sociologists and women’s historians to report on the final efforts at achieving full equality and “protection under the law.”  This, as well as everyone’s civil rights, should have been protected and insured from the founding of this country.  Has the third wave been successful yet?

Paper length and requirements:  This paper should be at least 6 pages in length, double-spaced, with one-inch margins, and based upon at least four academic sources.  This means do not base the report upon biography.com, Wikipedia, about.com, or any other “quick answer” online sources.  Go to the library online, use primary documents from the textbook, and read academic sources, whether they are my reserve books, academic journals or other historic works.
