Students will be responsible for finding a case they are interested in and using the information learned in this course to provide a written brief.
- Brief: A written summary of a case.
- It consists of:
- The essential facts (what happened between the parties and, if the case has been appealed, the decision of the court)
- The issue(s) to be resolved
- The court’s resolution of the issue(s)
- The rationale for the court’s decision.
- Connect the above elements of the brief to various information learned in the course, citing the information from the textbook, etc.
- The body of the paper should be an approximately 5-page Word document, using APA formatting (1 inch margins, double-spaced, and in Times New Roman 12 point font). The assignment should also include a title page and reference page.
