Policy Exercise Paper: Each student shall research a social policy of his or her choice. This paper will be a minimum of 10 pages in length, typed and double-spaced. A minimum of 5 sources should be cited, using APA format. Your paper should include the following-
Historical background of the policy (20 points)
Description of the social problem leading to the policy formation, extent of the problem, who is affected by the problem, why it is a problem, does it continue to be a problem-etc. (20 points)
Policy analysis- goals, objectives, eligibility criteria, barriers to service, intended and unintended consequences to both consumers and practitioners, public perception, funding sources, economic feasibility, availability of adequately trained personnel to implement, etc. (20 points)
Student’s opinion of the policy- suggested changes and rationale for those changes, it is consistent with social work the ethics? (15 points)
