Preferably have read “The wide sargasso sea” or would know the context of the passage Quote analysis 
Using full sentences, in about 150 words, briefly identify any characters appearing or
referred to in the quotation and explain its context. (10 points)
• Using full sentences, in about 150 words, discuss the significance of the quotation in terms
of a significant theme in the story. (10 points)
• Using several full sentences, select, analyse and interpret a key word or phrase in the
quotation. (5 points)
Important: Make sure that your answer clearly identifies the quotation being discussed. Ideally,
duplicate the quotation in your answer 

Passage:  hated the mountains and the hills, the rivers and the rain. I hated the sunsets of whatever
colour, I hated its beauty and its magic and the secret I would never know. I hated its
indifference and the cruelty which was part of its loveliness. Above all I hated her. For she
belonged to the magic and the loveliness. She had left me thirsty and all my life would be
thirst and longing for what I had lost before I found it.
