Public health officials are often tasked with communicating important messages to the public in times of crisis and in times of normalcy. This paper will focus on the importance of public health officials communicating both critical and non-critical messages to the public, and the different methodologies, which can be used in order to assure the message is being communicated.
Choose any topic related to disaster preparedness, response, or recovery, which would have an impact on individuals and a community. Some examples are:
Two cases of bacterial meningitis at the local college have been diagnosed. Several cases of measles have been identified at the local elementary school.

The main water source feeding a community is contaminated with Botulinum Toxin.
Three new cases of the plague have been identified in a local community hospital A community has an acute increase in active TB cases and no source has been identified yet.
A small farming community has three new cases of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy.
