Orisha Stories From West Africa to Cuba

Please answer the following questions:1) Provide a description of the assigned reading or other materials. Identify what kind of thing or genre the piece is (academic journal article, book chapter, book review, newspaper opinion column, short story, poem, documentary film, blog post, etc.). Who is the author? When and where was it published? What disciplines or fields does it represent (e.g., anthropology, history, psychology)? What is it about?

2)Tell us what caught your eye. What was the most interesting single sentence, and why did it interest you?

3) Answer the question that was provided by the guest teacher: What are some of the reasons that religious stories/myths change after the experiences of displacement and oppression?

4) Generate one or two really good questions (or questions sets) of your own. These should go beyond merely seeking information to probe the heart of the matter. What particularly puzzled you or made you curious? What would you wish to bring up in a discussion with the guest teacher? Refer to the hand out to think about how to ask better questions.
