PLEASE READ FIRST The whole paper is due the 30th, but I will need a copy of the Annotated Bib, introduction, Lit Review, and an outline of the 3 main arguements or themes from the initial analysis of the text by the 24th at 10:30pm EST, this is why I have selected the 24th on the instructions. I don not expect the whole paper to be done by then. Include as much info as you can. This is due by April 24th at 10:30. No exceptions

Instructions for Research Question and Annotated Bib (Need to submit this ASAP) 

1. Select a topic. (EXAMPLE TOPIC) An analysis of the portrayal of women in the current top 10 most popular music videos. 
2. Develop a research question: How are women portrayed in the current top 10 most popular music videos. 
3. Do some research: You want to find any sources that deal with how women are portrayed in music (not the top 10 music videos), but just music in general. You’ll find 4-6 sources. 
4. Write your annotated bibliography: You’ll include 4 sources for the annotated bib. You’ll include a citation, summarize the source, and state how the source will help you write your literature review. Remember: not answer your research question, but just get your reader up to speed on what has already been written on the topic.

Overall Paper componentsYour paper will consist of 6 parts: (TOPIC OF PAPER BELOW IS AN EXAMPLE, NOT MY TOPIC)

1. Introduction: You’ll introduce your topic, discuss why it’s important to study, and state your purpose and research question. 
2. Literature Review: You’ll summarize academic research related to women in music and women in popular culture. What has been studied, how it’s been studied, what are the findings? This doesn’t have to focus on top 10. It could focus on country music, rap music, pop music. This is just a summary of the research related to the topic (not the RQ). 
3. Method Section: You’ll define textual analysis: tell why textual analyses are important. You’ll describe your text, i.e., which music videos will you analyze — what is the current top 10?
4. Analysis: You’ll watch all of the videos and identify 3 main themes related to women in the music videos. This has nothing to do with the academic work that’s already been done. You are doing this analysis. You are supporting your themes with descriptions from the videos. How are the women portrayed? What are they doing? What are they wearing? What are they singing about (if they are singing)? How are they moving? Who is prioritized? Valued? What does it suggest about women? You’ll come up with 3 main themes from the videos and then you’ll support those themes with descriptions from the videos themselves. 
5. Conclusion: Recap your main findings. Answer the following questions: What does the top 10 music videos tell us about society? How do they relate to the bigger picture of women’s roles in society? Why is it important to study this? 
6. Reference Page – APA format of your sources.
