1) Find an article regarding a healthcare economic topic of your choosing. It could be about the ACA, Medicaid expansion, rising costs of prescription drugs, policy discussions like Medicare or any other topic you like. Just make sure your topic has a strong economic focus. That means do not use an article about a new treatment or the opening of a new clinic unless it is primarily economics oriented.
2) Summarize the article in no more than one page.
3) In a minimum of two pages discuss at least four economic concepts involved in the article. The economic concepts can be anything we have covered in the textbook such as supply and demand, price elasticity, moral hazard, risk pooling, risk aversion, managed care, adverse selection to name a few. As you can see, to do this part of the assignment, your article must be economics oriented. Submit your assignment as a Word file, not a pdf. APA formatting is required (an abstract is not) to obtain credit for this assignment. If you Google the Purdue OWL you will find outstanding APA resources there. Papers not in APA format will not be graded. The SafeAssign match rate must not exceed 35%. Grading: Article selection and summary (10 points). Identification of at least four relevant economic concepts and depth and detail of discussion (30 points). Writing and APA (10 points). Papers that are less than the required length will be downgraded substantially. For example, a paper that is one page short of the required three pages will receive a 33% (17 point) deduction. Critical to APA formatting is appropriate in-text citations and references. Also, make sure to address any APA issues I noted in your first assignment. Make sure to reference your article and the textbook.
