Personal “Green” Assessment
Please complete the 5 sections below as directed:
- Carbon Footprint:

Write down your overall score, and describe the results and your reaction to them (500-word minimum). - Current “Green” Practices:
Sit down and make a list of all the current “green” practices you currently engage in. Major categories to
include are, but are not limited to, the following:
• Home: products used/weatherizing/vegetable gardening/etc.
• Recycling
• Car/Driving
• Work
• Membership in “green” organizations/programs
• Volunteering
Choose two (2) practices from above that you consider to be green or sustainable, and complete the following
information for each: (500-word minimum each).
• Action (name it)
• How long have you adopted this practice?
• How much? How often?
• Why do you do it?
• What are benefits? - How Can I Improve My Practices:
Write a detailed description, based on the first two sections above (include areas of concern on your carbon
footprint results), on how you can change and/or improve your green practices and how those changes and/or
improvements can make a difference and make a benefit to you, the community and the planet. We already
know that many practices can save you money, so please go beyond these reasons. (500-word minimum). - Something New:
Take a moment to reflect on a new “green” practice that you would like to begin, but haven’t. It could be
something mentioned above or something else entirely: (500-word minimum)
• Name the practice (what is it?)
• Why do you want to practice it?
• What are the obstacles getting in the way of starting it?
• Write a plan on how you will implement it, be specific
Implement the plan for 3-weeks, and:
• Describe the process you undertook
• How did you feel doing it?
• Rate and explain how difficult it was
• Will you maintain the practice? Why or why not?
• Include a photo that represents the results of
Submission:
Please format as outlined above, with section numbers and titles. All sections should be in paragraph format
(though your current green practice list can be bullet-pointed). Be very thorough and detailed. Paper should
be at least 2000+ words total, but invite you to go beyond minimum! Papers lacking in detail will be docked
points!
Points:
50-points total. Grades will be based on:
• Depth, thoroughness and thoughtfulness of work.
• All required elements included.
• Paper formatted as described, and included a cover page.
• Writing quality – no writing errors, solid writing mechanics.
