Choose three of the following five essay questions to answer. For each question, you must provide a response that is at least 1.5 pages, double spaced, Times New Roman 12 point font with normal margins. If you are referencing class notes, no citations are needed. If you are referencing a specific portion of the book, provide the page number(s) in parentheses at the end of the reference. If you are using external sources, follow normal APA guidelines for in-text citations and then include a full citation at the end of the document.   1. Crime is largely homosocial, meaning that victims and offenders tend to be of the same race, age, and/or gender. Using one of the criminological theories discussed in class, explain why this relationship exists.
  1. The lecture about property crime described the four types of motor vehicle theft. Explain each of these types of theft and then for each type identify one theory that best explains that particular type of motor vehicle theft. Responses should briefly describe each theory. You may use the same theory for more than one type of motor vehicle theft.
  1. Many public order crimes are labeled as “victimless crimes” but there is debate surrounding whether or not so-called victimless crimes truly exist. Using at least three public order crimes as examples, make an argument for or against the existence of victimless crimes. You should use information from the lecture as well as outside sources to support your argument.
  1. Violence is categorized by an interaction between two motivations (predatory and dispute-related) and three concerns (compliance, justice, and face saving). Describe the resulting six types of violence discussed in class and provide an example of a violent act that would fall into each type.
  1. In class we discussed five major Criminal Justice debates (crime trends, gun control, legalization of prostitution, legalization of drugs, death penalty). Choose one of these debates and summarize the main points of the debate. Then, using what you’ve learned about criminological theory to suggest an orienting theoretical perspective that could be used to inform criminal justice policies on the subject.
