Essay Evaluation of a Sample Dissertation

When conducting this evaluation, focus on the three core sections of the thesis that have now been covered within this module:  

 Literature Review Chapter  

 Methodology Chapter   

 Analysis Chapter   

 When writing your evaluative essay, it is important to consider what has worked well within the submission, what could be improved, and what understandings you can take from this for use within your own work.  When completing this evaluation, the following points may help you think about possible direction for your evaluative work. This list is not exhaustive, and it’s important that you evaluate in ways that are important to you.  How appropriate is the structure of each section, and do the sections draw out important interrelationships?   How has theory been used to develop arguments and does this provide an appropriate critical thread through the work?  Do each of the sections within the work connect with the research questions and research topic? Could this be improved?  Are each of the sections appropriately critical and analytical?  Is there a good level of coherency between the sections within the methodology chapter?  Does the work have a good academic writing style that is easy to follow and understand?  Do you think there is anything missing from the work?
