Read about the Eskay Creek Mine in Northwest British Columbia.
Now closed, this underground mine extracted minerals containing many metals including gold, silver, zinc, and lead. The silver from the Eskay Creek Mine was purchased by Fujifilm for use in photographic film and security holograms on currency.
Several of the minerals found at this mine are also found in the mineral drawers in our geology lab (galena, chalcopyrite and sphalerite) because they are economically important.
Since all the metals we use commercially today are either mined directly or recovered from a recycled source (which itself was originally mined), it is clear that geologic resources are an essential part of our lives.
With this in mind, choose any object you own and list what geologic resources it is made of. Research where on Earth these resources come from, including specific examples of mines or other methods of extraction.
State how long the object will be used and what you will do with that object once it is no longer of use to you.
