Form/Style. Your citations and document layout should conform to APA citation
style guidelines for student papers, as well as the specific formatting requirements
(not MLA).
Three Sections (1-3). Introduction, Discussion, and Conclusion sections each
further detailed below, after audience and purpose. The Discussion section might
be divided into 3 or more sub-sections. Subsections help demonstrate control of
APA-style formatting.
Audience & Purpose. Report your findings in a way that is appropriate for and
appeals to an audience of professionals, researchers, and scholars in relevant
fields. You are not arguing for a solution or action yet—just presenting an issue.
1. Introduction. (100-200 words.) Present your issue and provide some
background information. Establish exigence, or your urgent reason for writing
(Bitzer). Support that it is important and needs to be considered, and spotlight
upcoming Discussion content.
2. Discussion. (300-700 words.) In at least three organized subsections, present
three angles of looking at the identified issue, synthesizing research from our first
two major projects. These subsections should represent different symmetrical
perspectives, voices, and opinions; but you should not occupy any argumentative
position in the Discussion, except that your issue is exigent.
3. Conclusion. (50-100 words.) So where does that leave us? In this third and
final section, drill home the significance of your issue and succinctly reiterate the
most essential positions on it. Don’t introduce any new information except to tie
up any loose ends.
Sources. Properly and stylistically integrate and cite at least 7 sources, including
at least two scholarly peer-reviewed journal articles accessible through the
library’s ProQuest Central database. You are encouraged to use sources from
previous ENG-112 assignments and major projects if they are useful and suitable
