Critical Race Theory and how it is used to discuss race in the context of American schooling. Your paper should discuss the theory, its tenets, and its applicability to analyzing a particular topic of deep examination. Central to your paper is how the theory is used to further explore the experiences of racialized groups in the United States (mainly African Americans, Latinos, and Asian
Some possible areas for consideration are as follows: 1) access to schooling and equal opportunity; 2) federal and state laws and policies that have shaped school desegregation/integration;
3) research related to teacher attitudes/biases as it relates to racialized student populations; 4) the impact of K-12 discipline policies on ethnic/racially minoritized groups; 5) curriculum bias; 6) school funding inequities between marginalized communities and wealthy communities; 7) English language learners/bilingual education/multilingual learners and school inequity; 8) the political landscape related to what should be taught in schools; 9) students of color experiences in schools; 10) teacher of color experiences in K-12 or another topic to be determined in consultation with the instructor.
Remember, your paper must draw upon a Critical Race Theory (CRT) framework to discuss and analyze these issues.
