Using real-life examples, evaluate the extent to which the planning that is practiced in a city or town of your choice can be considered as spatial planning.

2.      In most countries, planning legislation prescribes specific plans for different spatial levels. Critically compare the effectiveness of this official framework for plans in a country of your choice.

3.      Assess the effectiveness of the organisational framework of planning in a country of your choice. Credit will be given for the use of real-life examples.

4.      You have been asked to respond to the question: “Is spatial planning really necessary?” Using examples from any one country, write an informed and critical response to this question.

5.      EITHER: With reference to a country or city of your choice, discuss the extent to which spatial planning has succeeded or failed in addressing a major contemporary challenge.

6.      With respect to a specific case from planning law OR a planning application that is in the public domain from any part of the world, critically reflect on the judgement or decision. Credit will be given for reflection on specific elements of the judgement or decision.
