Your final paper will be 6-8 pages and will compare and contrast two self-help groups that address substance misuse.
2 self help groups: AA and SMART Recovery program
using the following format:

• Describe the history and its development
• Describe the main philosophical framework/theoretical approach and/or practice wisdom that structures and guides the group’s focus on recovery from addiction  
• Are there any inclusion/exclusion criteria for participation of group membership?
• Describe any materials the group uses in its delivery approach  
• Compare and contrast the benefits and limitations of the group’s approach to recovery  
• Describe the type of clients or client populations who might NOT be a good fit for this type of self-help group and its recovery approach and philosophy.  Provide evidence-informed rationale for your statements.
• Does the group intentionally address trauma, along with substance use? If so, in what ways? If not, propose a way this content could be integrated into the self-help group process.
