The following is designed to help you carefully choose a topic for your upcoming speech. Answer each question in complete sentences to receive full credit for the assignment. Each answer should be around 1-2 paragraphs (minimum), or roughly 100-200 words. 

  1. Explain briefly a topic you are considering for your informative speech, and explain your personal interest in speaking on this topic.
  2. Why is your speech on this topic appropriate for your audience? How will they benefit from the information that you will present?
  3. What sources will you look at for your research? Be specific (e.g., don’t just write “newspapers”; write The Washington Post, etc.). Find at least three. 
  4. Identify and briefly explain an alternative topic that you could use for this assignment (repeating the above questions).
