Case Study Assignment #3: Policy/Program/Project/Intervention Design 

Case Study Scenario:

You are employed at the State Department of Health, and asked to lead a task force (with 8 members from various departments) with development of a policy, program, project, and/or intervention based upon what is needed for the state.  It has been some time since a thorough assessment and vision for health promotion for the entire state has been completed.  You are given a budget of approximately $25,000 to determine a topic on which to focus with one priority population within the state, develop an plan, pilot the policy/program/project/intervention, and evaluate the process to for refinement before rolling it out to the entire state. 

Assignment #3: Policy/Program/Project/Intervention Design 

Due 4/26.  (30 points)

With the criteria identified above, design a population-based policy, program, project, or intervention (Competency D-2:9) for your identified priority population based on the health issue discussed.

• Identify a planning model to be used for the integration of the health issues among the priority population.
  • Provide a rationale for the planning model that would be used.
• Discuss the overall goal, objectives, and types of activities to be included in the design of the policy, program, project, or intervention.
• Explain how the policy, program, project, or intervention would be delivered and the communication channels that would be used.
  • Why should the policy, program, project, or intervention be delivered in the manner proposed?
  • How would the communication channels proposed assist in the delivery and success of the program?
• Describe the importance of cultural competence in communicating public health content for the policy, program, project, or intervention (Competency D-2:20).
  • Provide a discussion on the priority population and health issue and the importance of cultural competence for inclusion.
  • Create either a press release or a flyer for the announcement of the program.
