Grading criteria: Book reports: Good spelling, grammar and organization, 10 points; clear and accurate accounting of the arguments and perspective in the book read, 30 points; clear appraisal of the book’s content and arguments, 30 points.
Report format: Please double-space your reports, give them 1-inch margins, and use at least a 14-pt. font (no smaller) when posting them. Please number the pages of your reports. Take care to check them for spelling and grammatical errors. Also, all reports must give proper credit to their references. You may use any commonly accepted format for crediting your references, but you must do it.
8 Minimal requirements for referencing: I know that some publishers do not require that authors give the relevant page numbers for their sources and citations (direct quotations), but I do require page numbers. The reason is simple: if I need to look up a citation or reference, I simply do not have the time to scan an entire book or article looking for it. In any case, giving the page number(s) for all references is standard practice, so please do it. If you give a direct quotation without giving the relevant page number, I will deduct 5 points for every such omission. Unfortunately, that may mean that you will fail the final requirement, and perhaps also the course. When in doubt, give the page number(s)!
