Article Review Guidelines

All reviews at a minimum should (1) identify the work, and the author, (2) include a summary of the work, and (3) include an evaluation.

Organization

Your name, course, and date go in the top upper left.

Title

E.g., Review of Donald Baack’s What’s in a Name? Leadership, Management, and other Fuzzy Terms (Authors name followed by the article title)

Introduction

This section is about a brief introduction to the article. Include one or more general statements that give a quick indication of the work’s contents and your reaction to it.

Body

In this section, it is expected that there is at least one paragraph of summary and at least one paragraph of evaluation.

In your summary, incorporate all the significant points of the article, including what you believe is important and also the points the author emphasizes. Explain the purpose of the article and, if appropriate, include the author’s background (often found either on the top or bottom of the article), the methodology employed (if any), and cite interesting and informative examples from the article.

Present your critical evaluation, discussing both positive and negative features as appropriate. Is the article thorough? Easy to understand? Fair to the audience or biased? Is it convincing or confusing? The results or findings of the article are significant? How does the work relate to other works in the agriculture field or to your general understanding of the subject? These are just some of the questions that you might consider under your evaluation section.

Conclusion

What are the most important conclusions of the article or the most important aspects from your perspective? Try to make this a short paragraph.

Reference

A full bibliographic reference for the article, in proper style.

E.g., Baack, Donald. 2013. “What’s in a Name? Leadership, Management, and other Fuzzy Terms.” Regional Business Review, 32: 20-31.

Format

The final paper should be typed, Times New Roman, 12 font, 1.5 line space, and margins of one inch on all sides. Number all the pages at bottom right corner. Proofread your review article carefully for any grammar or style mistakes and uploading the final copy to the canvas webpage. Minimum required length for the paper is at least two pages.
