Assignment Prompt:
In an essay of 1,300 words, answer the following question: Are names important? Your essay must clearly take a position, include three or four main points that support your position, include concrete details from the assigned readings, and maintain an academic tone.
Assignment Notes
Your essay must be 1,300 words, and your word count must be included at the end of your essay. Failure to include your word count automatically deducts 10% from your final rubric score.
Actual word count: 700; Required word count: 1,000. 700/1,000 = 70.
If your original score for the essay is 10/10, your revised grade would be 7/10.
If your original score for the essay is 9/10, your revised score would be 6/10.
If you do not meet the required word count, your highest possible grade is determined by dividing the actual word count by the required word count.
For this essay, focus on including evidence from the assigned texts. You may NOT use personal examples. This means you may not include first person pronouns unless they are part of a quotation.
