a self-reflective essay using sociological imagination

Requirements:1) The sociological imagination allows us to see the important relationship between “personal trouble of milieu”, which affect an individual and “public issues of social structures”, which reflect a problem for the entire society.

 – Write a self-reflective essay, in which you adopt the sociological imagination to analyse ONE of your life experience that has been shaped by the larger social context.

Also apply sociological concepts, theories or ideas that you learnt from the course, assigned readings or other source in your analysis.

– You should adopt at least 3 academic texts on your analysis

– The essay should contain no more than 1500 words and be well-cited and referenced

2) In the essay, you are required to reflect your life experience, in what ways are you shaped by the society

– Write about whether you conform to social norms (norms about work, study, body and appearance, etc) and how the norms discipline your life, and if not how do you respond to the social sanctions imposed on you by the society?

Upon your analysis, you may evaluate whether the socialisation is reasonable, and whether you would accept/reject/confront to these socialisations in your life.

3) Please be reminded this essay is about YOU and the SOCIETY. The subject for investigation in the essay is you, not your family, not your friends.
